Christain and Anastasia first meet when she falls into his office. Quite literally. This book originally started out on a writing website as a twilight fan fiction, and to my mind… the Twilight aspect of Fifty Shades of Grey hasn’t been censored completly from its pages.
Edward has been recast as the rich, the beautiful, the possesive…Christain Grey. So only the name has changed then.
Bella is now Anastasia Steele, the clumsy, mousy haired, student-about-to graduate that Grey falls in love with.
Jacob Blackalso makes an appearance as Jose. The photographer whom also sometimes fixes Bella…sorry I mean, Anastasia’s car. Should i also mention that Jose is in love with Anastasia?
Talking of the car, that particular vehicle also has it’s own little subplot. During the first chapter, we find out that it has a name. Wanda. Seeing as we all know that Ms. James is a fan of S. Meyer, is it possible that she has also taken a character from another of Meyer’s books? Does The Host ring any bells? Might i also add that Chritstain buys Anastasia a new car towards the end of the book? Just like Twilight?
I’m starting to wonder why this book is such a hit. Of course, many people like the BDSM side, but doesn’t it matter if the story is actaully well written? Same as with Twilight, although…Edwards secret was a little more acceptable. In my mind.
I don’t intend to read the other two books, mainly because i already know the general idea of the next books in the trilogy. They get back together, they fight, they confess their undying love, she leaves. And so on and so on.
The only way that I can sum up this book is this: They fall in love, they get kinky, they fight, he whips her, and then she leaves.
I understand that Twilight inspired this book, but wouldn’t it have been better for humankind if the author had tried to make it less like Twilight?
