Synopsis: Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.
I bought this book in early August at Waterstones. I’d seen it a few times on Goodreads and thought the cover looked cool, so I bought it. That £7 was totally worth it!
Cinder was a brilliant character. She wasn’t weak and when I read that she couldn’t cry, I almost wept for joy! (See what i did there? Can’t cry? Wept? Okay.) In contrast, she wasn’t all warrior girl. She had moments of humanity, and that made her more likable and real.
Iko, the android with the personalaity of a human. Although she was a robot, and (arguably) wasn’t a main character, I thought that she was funny and added some humor to the book.
Prince Kai, thoughts on him? Um…not sure. I though that Cinder was a bit too moony over him, and a bit oblivious when to came to him liking her. He didn’t seen to have any fight in him.
Adri, the stepmother. Bother that woman! Who does she think she is? Talking like she owns Cinder? She maybe be 32% cyborg but thats no way to treat a sentient being! So frustrating! But not frusting enough so that it becomes unbarable. Some frustation is good.
Peal and Peony, the step-sisters. Peal was the nice one that contracted letumosis, why is it always the nice one? Neither of the step-sisters where in the story very long, but the way Cinder cared for Peal wad quite touching.
Five Star! (No NOT out of ten, cleverclogs.)
There was the twist at the end that..okay…i was expecting it…but it was still a twist! Seriously cannot wait for Scarlett! 2013? So long! The sequel(s) are deffiantly going on my pre-order list 🙂
Brilliant! For a first novel that was some good stuff!
One last thing that I liked, was the font style. Very futuristic!
