I received an ARC copy of this book 🙂
Dancing with someone is an act of trust. Elegant and intimate; you’re close enough to kiss, close enough to feel your partner’s heartbeat. But for Vanessa, dance is deadly – and she must be very careful who she trusts . . .
Vanessa Adler attends an elite ballet school – the same one her older sister, Margaret, attended before she disappeared. Vanessa feels she can never live up to her sister’s shining reputation. But Vanessa, with her glorious red hair and fair skin, has a kind of power when she dances – she loses herself in the music, breathes different air, and the world around her turns to flames . . .
Soon she attracts the attention of three men: gorgeous Zep, mysterious Justin, and the great, enigmatic choreographer Josef Zhalkovsky. When Josef asks Vanessa to dance the lead in the Firebird, she has little idea of the danger that lies ahead – and the burning forces about to be unleashed . . .
Originally I had rated this as a four star, but after thinking about, I think that a three star is more suitable.
The first half of ‘Dance of Shadows’ was brilliant! I was really sucked in and thought that it was amazing! The dancing and the mystery of Vanessa’s missing sister Margaret just captivated me and…and…and…
It went totally downhill from about 200+ pages in. I was disappointed. Vanessa just didn’t get what was going on in front of her very own eyes, did she?
Yes of course, THAT GUY is creepy and so boring that I can’t even remember his name any more.
Disappointing! Almost boring!
The only redeeming thing about this book was the cover. It’s just marvelous! I’d give this book three stars just for the cover :)and that’s a shame because the author had nothing to do with that.
When this book comes is published ‘properly’ maybe I’ll pick it up and see if anything major changed in the novel, see if it got any better.
(Three out of Five!)
